World premieres, improvisations, recitals, concertos, chamber music... multi-talented musician Orlando Bass is a French-British pianist-composer, who regularly takes the stage as harpsichordist and improviser as well. More than simply a performer with exceptional fingers and sensitivity: he is above all a musician who thinks deeply, expresses himself with humour and charts his artistic course with both serenity and an indelible taste for unfettered exploration.

Beethoven's Diabelli Variations op. 120 are regarded as one of the milestones in the pianistic repertoire and are therefore often presented with museological seriousness and reverence. However, this masterpiece certainly offers room for joy of playing, spontaneity and creativity.
Together with the audience, Orlando Bass embarks on a search for the little stories hidden in the Diabelli Variations. These seem to be a diverse collection of musical sketches, portraits and caricatures of the people of Viennese society in Beethoven's time. Which figure is hidden behind which music, what does the artist see and what does the audience hear?
The music played in this conversation concert is a spontaneous mixture of Beethoven's Diabelli Variations and improvisations influenced by suggestions from the audience. In the historical ambience of the Kulturscheune, the audience can give free rein to their imagination, draw little scenes, write them down - or simply listen.
